El primitivo Aeropuerto de Madrid construido entre 1929 y 1931 y demolido en 1963, fue una obra de colaboración entre Luis Gutiérrez Soto y el ingeniero Marqués de los Álamos, realizado a partir del concurso público convocado para su construcción en terrenos del municipio de Barajas.
El proyecto contemplaba la realización del propio edificio del aeropuerto así como un edificio destinado a club, hangares con diez jaulas adosadas para avionetas de alas plegables, garage y taller.
